NYC son executes mother and stepfather, then blows off his own head just steps from daycare

A Bronx man fatally shot his mother and stepfather before blowing off his own head Wednesday night just steps from a daycare center, neighbors and police sources told The Post.

Three people were found dead of gunshot wounds to the head on Southern Boulevard near Prospect Avenue around 9 p.m. — with photos showing body bags being removed from a home, as well as a gun next to a large pool of blood outside.

A man and a woman were pronounced dead inside the apartment, a law enforcement source said.

Both had been shot in the head and the man was shot several more times in the body, police said.

The apparent shooter was found outside in the hallway with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital.

According to sources, the younger man was found with a gun next to him.

A neighbor told The Post that the shooter was the female victim’s son.

A 24-year-old neighbor told The Post that the three lived together right next to B-Happy Group Family Daycare, which was closed Thursday after the shooting.

“I heard three shots and I looked out my window and saw him sitting against the stairs. His legs were crossed. Part of the side of his head was blown off,” the neighbor said.

“There was a lot of blood. There was a phone on the floor and it was on speaker. I heard a woman’s voice on the phone shouting, ‘Oh my God, Oh my God! Papi! Papi! She was on the phone for about three hours. She kept screaming and crying,” she said.

The neighbor, who asked not to be named, said Con Ed came over afterward because the gunman allegedly turned on the gas before he started shooting.

“I heard that the stepfather was abusing him and that the mother didn’t want to say anything. I don’t know if that’s the reason,” she said, adding, “There’s a lot of crime going on in this block. I have a five-year-old son and I walk outside with him every day. It’s not safe.”

Bernadette LaBoy, owner of the daycare center next door, said she had to cancel Halloween celebrations for the center’s children, who range in age from 18 months to five years old.

“I don’t want parents and children to see this,” LaBoy told The Post. “I don’t want to put anyone at risk, especially the emotional well-being of the children.”

One of the daycare employees said they have never seen anything like this in the 23 years the company has existed.

“I feel terrible. I know it’s not the safest neighborhood, but I’ve lived in this neighborhood for so long and I’ve never seen anything close to home,” LaBoy said. “This is terrible.”

Another neighbor, Kayla Toledo, 37, said she was home at the time of the shooting and ran to her three children, ages 18, 13 and 4, after they heard the shots.

Toledo said the family, who had lived in the second-floor apartment for more than 15 years, was quiet.

“Never heard any parties, no fights, no noise,” she said. “They have always been for themselves. Everyone was shocked because they were a quiet family. It is very unexpected and shocking that something of this magnitude should happen to them.

“If I can give a message to anyone out there, it’s simply: take care of each other. There’s a lot going on…a lot of mental issues…be aware of what’s happening, especially with our children or family members,” Toledo added.

According to police, no arrests have been made as of Thursday afternoon.
