OnePlus will not release foldable in 2025, whereby the company confirms that every chance of the oneplus open rumors must be placed on a break for the time being.
In a definitely frank and open (no pun meaning) of the company, Vale G. (while he passes on OnePlus ‘official forums), product manager for the OnePlus Open, just published a message entitled’A comment about our foldable strategy for 2025 – again calibration for innovation. ‘
He states that ‘we have [OnePlus] Carefully considered the timing and our next steps in foldable devices, and we have made the decision not to release foldable this year ”.
Pause, don’t stop
Despite what is probably disappointing news for fans of the original Open, Vale wanted to reassure the followers that this does not indicate the departure of OnePlus from the foldable segment; Allegedly saying: “… our decision to pause on foldable for this generation means no deviation from the category”.
The step back from OnePlus from the foldable space comes in the same week as a sister company Oppo has lifted the lid on its latest foldable offer – the Oppo Find N5 (shown below) – the device that many expected as the basis for the OnePlus Open 2.

The next folding of Oppo is set to launch on February 20, but you can view our early hands-on with the Find N5 now. This is closest to an open successor in 2025.
Pull the pressure
In his position, Vale actively sings the praise of the Oppo Find N5, which strengthens the current, more uniform approach to the two brands for product releases and marketing. What this also means is that segment leaders such as Samsung are concerned about a competitor to worry about in 2025.
The OnePlus Open 2 would have been the perfect foil to show the next Z -fold
The newest Galaxy S25 series from the South Korean company focused much more on AI and software innovation, instead of wearing major improvements in hardware. The same is expected for the next folding – the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
In large markets such as the US, where Oppo does not work easily, the OnePlus Open 2 would have been the perfect foil to show the next Z -foldable Z, which emphasizes the potential complacency of Samsung. This will now be uncontrolled.
OnePlus’ foldable future
With no OnePlus -foldable in 2025, questions will appear about what the next folding offer of the brand will yield. Assuming that OnePlus returned to the segment in 2026, it is three years ago since the debut of the original open, in which time players such as Samsung, Google, Honor, Xiaomi, Vivo and of course Oppo have reformed the segment in various ways.
There is a world in which OnePlus lifts the design of the Find N5, as it would have done this year, while all the plans for a find N6 can re -influence what the next OnePlus Folding telephone can look and feels. We just have to wait.
