OnePlus Nord 5: Summary
- OnePlus’ Upcoming Mid-Range Phone
- Launch confirmed before July 8
- Chipset and cameras officially unveiled
In 2024 Tech Advisor De OnePlus Nord 4 crowned the best mid-range telephone of the year.
However, that is the pace of the mid-range telephone market, it was quickly surpassed in 2025, also by the latest Pixel 9a from Google.
Will OnePlus be able to regain his crown in 2025? The upcoming Nord 5 is confirmed that they will be launched soon, and many upgrades are expected. Here is everything we know so far.
When is the OnePlus Nord 5 released?
Summary
- July 8 Launch date confirmed
- Probably for sale shortly thereafter
- American availability unlikely
OnePlus has confirmed that it will launch the Nord 5 alongside four other devices July 8, 2025.
We do not yet know exactly when it will be released, but on the basis of earlier launches, pre-orders will probably start shortly after the event.
The phone is expected to be loosely based on the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing, which was launched in China on 27 May.
The Nord 5 arrives almost exactly one year after its predecessors in the Nord 4 and Nord 3, which were launched in July 2024 and 2023 respectively.

But unlike the 13 and 13R, it is unlikely that a global launch will include the US. Although all earlier phones in the most important Nord series are available in the UK, OnePlus tends to skip the US with its mid-range devices.
How much does the OnePlus Nord 5 cost?
Summary
- Nord 5 probably has a comparable starting price such as Nord 4 (£ 429/€ 499)
- No specific price rumors yet
Based on earlier models, we would expect that the OnePlus Nord 5 will swing in the category of £ 500/€ 500.
There may be a few small increases compared to the £ 429/€ 499 of the Nord 4, but OnePlus wants it to remain competitive with the £ 499/$ 499 Google Pixel 9a and £ 499 Samsung Galaxy A56.
However, there are no concrete leaks or rumors with regard to prices at this stage,
What specifications and functions will the OnePlus Nord 5 have?
Summary
- New design with vertical camera -Aray
- Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset attached
- Improved camera specifications revealed by OnePlus
The OnePlus Nord 5 launch is just there. A lot of news about the phone itself and the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing, on which the Nord 5 is expected to be based, has emerged. Here are the most important points you need to know.
Design
The Nord 4 introduced a metal unibody design and offers a premium feeling and improved sustainability compared to its predecessor. It also contained an IP65 rating water and dust resistance, a warning slide and a unique two-tone back design.
Based on the official launch poster of OnePlus, the Nord 5 (here again in light blue next to the Nord CE5) has a very different aesthetics.

OnePlus
The above poster also confirms that the Nord 5 will have a vertical camera array, which leaves the horizontal setup on the Nord 4.
And after OnePlus had confirmed that it will come from the warning slide, it is now revealed that this will be replaced by a new adjustable plus key.
Before that, the only concrete rumor suggested that the phone will have a glass back and plastic frame. If that is true, it will be a downgrade compared to the Nord 4, with a metal frame.
It is also very unlikely that the Nord 5 will retain the popular warning slide, because OnePlus confirmed that it will come from it. It is still to be seen with where the company will replace it if there is something.

Reproduction
The 6.74-inch Full HD+ 120Hz OLED display of the Nord 4 is one of the striking functions that delivers vibrant colors and deep blacks.
Until now, reports suggest that the Nord 5 will take over a Full HD+ OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. As such, possible upgrades still have to be revealed.
In a blog post that revealed the launch date of 8 July, OnePlus mentioned 144 FPS Gaming. To achieve that, a 144Hz renewal percentage would be needed.

Performance
The Nord 4 was powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, combined with a maximum of 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. During our review, although it delivered strong performance, especially with daily tasks, it showed intensive gaming limitations.

With the announcement of the launch date, OnePlus also confirmed the chipset of Nord 5 – Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
This was announced in March 2024. It has since been replaced by the Snapdragon 8s Elite Gen 4, but remains a very capable chip.
In addition to Fast LPDDR5X RAM, OnePlus says that the Nord 5 will deliver a smooth gameplay, even with 144 fps on titles such as Call of Duty: Mobile.
This is in contradiction with earlier rumors, which suggested that the Nord 5 would be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400E.
Nothing has been revealed with regard to RAM or internal storage, so we can only assume that OnePlus will keep the options of 12+256 GB and 16+512 GB at the Nord 4.

Cameras
The cameras of the Nord 4 were a mixed bag, with a 50MP main lens with excellent results in good lighting, but a disappointing 8MP ultrawide and lack of a telephone lens that left room for improvement.
From the launch poster above we know that OnePlus goes to a vertical reversing camera arrangement, but sticks to two lenses on the back.
In an official e -mail, the company has now confirmed that the Nord 5 will have a 50MP main lens and 8MP ultrawide – that is the same as the Nord 4.
The main sensor, however, will be the Sony Lyt-700 lens that has been found on the OnePlus 13 flagship, so we must see that the image quality is being upgraded to stand on the same footing with that phone. In an interview, Celina Shi, Chief Marketing Officer of OnePlus Europe, describes it as “an important upgrade” compared to the Nord 4.
Apart from a slightly wider field of vision (116 ° in contrast to 112 °), the ultrawide seems to be unchanged.
But the biggest upgrades seem to be reserved for the selfie camera, which jumps from 16MP to 50MP with the introduction of a Samsung Isocell JN5 sensor at the flagship level. OnePlus has specifically emphasized its skills in low-light circumstances, HDR performance and video calls.
In the same interview, SHI said that new autofocust technology in the Selfie -lens “will help with clarity, in particular with selfies and groufies where topics can be placed in different depths”.
Video also gets a boost, with the possibility of catching in 4k 60fps from the front camera and the back.

Battery and charging
With a 5500 mAh battery, the Nord 4 offers an excellent lifespan of the battery. It supports 100W wired wired, although it misses a charger in the box.

Although the loading speeds are expected to remain the same, we can have a boost for a large battery capacity. Reports suggest that we can have a 7000 mAh or even 7500 MAH cell, although it is not clear whether this will be achieved with newer silicon carbon battery technology.
Nothing has been revealed with regard to wireless charging, one of the remarkable omissions on the Nord 4.

Software
With Oxygenos 14.1 based on Android 14, the Nord 4 offers a user-friendly experience with six years of security updates and four large OS updates.
The Nord 5 will probably be sent with Oxygenos 15 based on Android 15, although the Android 16 -equivalent is hopefully not too far away. Hopefully we can see further improvements in the obligation of the software update, but there are no rumors that suggest that this will be the case.
It is not clear whether we see new AI functions. Some of those could be rolled out on the OnePlus 13.
We will update this article when we learn something new. Meanwhile, view our guide for the best mid-range phones to see what the OnePlus Nord 5 will be.
