Open calls

Booooooom Illustration Awards 2024 (International)
Artists and illustrators are eligible for this opening prize worth $2,500 in cash prizes. Five winners and twenty shortlisted illustrators will be featured in a special publication, and the first entry is free for everyone.
Deadline: 11:59 PM PST on October 4, 2024.

City of Wichita Arkansas River public art project (International)
This open call seeks projects for three permanent, public works projects along the Arkansas Riverfront. With a total budget of $592,000, the project is looking for works that are interactive or change over time.
Deadline: October 4, 2024.

Gen-Art: exploring creativity across generations (US)
GEN-ART is a national open juried exhibition for all ages, where artists are invited to submit up to three works as a personal representation of their generation. This open call welcomes all media and styles, including sculpture, installation, digital and literature. There is a $30 application fee.
Deadline: October 4, 2024.

The Bennett Prize (International)
Female figurative realist painters are eligible for this award, which offers one winner $50,000 and a solo show, while an additional finalist will receive $10,000. There is a $40 application fee.
Deadline: October 4, 2024.

Passepartout photo prize (International)
This annual prize is open to any style, process or subject and offers €500, an exhibition in Rome and a publication. Register before June 10, 2024 for the early rate of €20.
Deadline: October 7, 2024.

Marilyn Newmark Memorial Grant (International)
This $5,000 prize is for an artist who specializes in animal sculpture and has a mature body of work.
Deadline: October 7, 2024.

2025 Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition (US)
The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry welcomes submissions from emerging and established Black artists for its annual exhibition. One artist will receive $4,000, while second place will receive $2,750 and third will receive $1,500. There is a $10 submission fee.
Deadline: 11:59 PM CST on October 13, 2024.

Science Gallery Melbourne Open Call: EMERGENCE(Y) (International)
This open call seeks installations and research projects for a group exhibition around a world indelibly affected by the climate crisis. Budgets must not exceed $8,000 AUD, including all fees, materials, freight and other project costs.
Deadline: 8:59 PM ET on October 27, 2024.

Loewe Foundation Craft Prize (International)
This annual award recognizes artisans who are setting new standards for the future of the craft. One winner will receive €50,000, and the nominated and winning works will be shown in an exhibition and accompanying catalog in 2025.
Deadline: October 30, 2024.

Artadia Awards (Houston)
Three visual artists will receive an unrestricted amount of $15,000, and one artist will receive the Marciano Artadia Award of $25,000. Honoraria will also be awarded to the finalists.
Deadline: November 1, 2024.

The nature photographer of the year 61 (International)
The winners of the 61st annual competition will be featured in an exhibition launching at the Natural History Museum, London in October 2025. There is an entry fee of £30, which increases to £35 in the final week of the entry period.
Opens: October 14. Deadline: 11:30 GMT on December 5, 2024.

Alexander Rutsch Award and Exhibition for Painting (International)
This award is open to artists age 19 and older and offers one artist $7,500, a solo exhibition and a printed catalog at the Pelham Art Center. $2,500 will be distributed among the finalists and there is a $25 application fee.
Deadline: December 15, 2024.

NSMA International Painting Competition (International)
Open to professionals and students, this competition focuses on contemporary realism in painting, and all subjects are welcome. One winner will receive $25,000, and the finalists will be exhibited at the New Salem Museum and the Academy of Fine Art.
Deadline: 11:59 PM EST on January 15, 2025.

Sony World Photography Awards 2025 (International)
Open to photographers worldwide shooting on any device, this competition includes top prizes of $25,000, a solo exhibition in London, Sony digital imaging equipment, press and media coverage, and more.
Deadline: January 10, 2025.

Subsidies

Rauschenberg emergency subsidies (US)
These grants of up to $5,000 support direct dental, medical or mental health-related treatment costs. Artists working in the visual arts, film, video, electronic, digital arts and choreography are eligible.
Deadline: 5:00 PM ET on October 1, 2024.

Grant for the Craft Research Fund (US)
This annual grant will award up to $15,000 to encourage, expand, and support craft research in the United States
Deadline: October 4, 2024.

VIA Art Fund Subsidy Artistic Production (International)
This grant will award individual artists, nonprofit organizations and institutions between $25,000 and $100,000 to commission works outside the walls of museums or galleries, within public spaces or in non-traditional exhibition settings. Projects must have a confirmed exhibition location.
Deadline: November 4, 2024.

Adolf and Esther Gottlieb’s emergency grant (International)
The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant Program provides one-time interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen catastrophic incident and who do not have the resources to meet that situation. Awardees typically receive $5,000, up to $15,000.

Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund (Ukraine)
Adobe’s Creative Residency Community Fund commissions visual artists to create corporate projects on an ongoing basis. The winners will receive between $500 and $5,000.

Grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation (International)
The foundation welcomes applications from actively exhibiting visual artists who are painters, sculptors and artists who work on paper, including printmakers. The grants are intended for one year and can amount to $50,000. The artist’s circumstances determine the amount of the subsidy, taking into account the professional exhibition history.

Residencies, fellowships and more

Art Omi residencies (International)
Artists, architects and writers are eligible for an Art Omi residency. Lodging and meals are provided, and some fellowship opportunities are available.
Deadline: 11:59 PM EST on October 15, 2024.

Squeaky wheel workroom residence (US)
This residency supports filmmakers, writers, critics, curators, artists and other practitioners working in media arts. Residents receive a $900 stipend, up to $300 in artist fees, $400 in travel, lodging, studio space and an optional $900 financial assistance for disabilities or child care.
Deadline: October 25, 2024.

Morgan’s Artist in Residence (AiR) program (International)
Emerging and established artists involved in papermaking, book art and printing are invited to apply for this residency. Artists receive a stipend, access to facilities and educational opportunities.
Deadline: 11:59 PM EST on October 31, 2024.

2025 Glass Museum Visiting artist (International)
A Visiting Artist Residency at the Hot Shop allows artists to explore new ideas and techniques or push the boundaries of a current series. Applicants can typically work in any medium.

De Bray Artist Residencies (International)
Through summer and long-term studio experiences, this program provides the opportunity to work within a community of global artists actively creating new work.
