Chicago – An operator for tow trucks in the suburbs is accused of shooting the resident of the tow truck of a rival company on the Kennedy Expressway. The shooting took place in October 2022, but Miguel Gonzalez is now being charged after a long investigation by the Illinois State Police.
The female victim was occupied by four other people in the backseat of a tow truck while on October 22, 2022 they traveled in the outgoing Kennedy near Fullerton.
Public Prosecutors say that Gonzalez, 47, pulled his tow truck along the vehicle of the rival company and had fired 13 shots in the rear window and the doors to the driver. The driver of the intended truck went out in Belmont and drove to the lawyer of Illinois Masonic Medical Center so that the woman could be treated for a shot wound on her knee.
Documents assessed by CWBCHICAGO say that the driver of the rival tow truck recognized the shooter as Gonzalez, adding that the shots came from a tow truck marked with the name Gonzalez’s Company: Serious Business Towing.
Gonzalez, who goes through the nicknames “KB” and “Killa Boy”, called the rival Tow Company to admit to the shooting and threatened to kill everyone at the company, according to the documents.
ISP researchers are said to have collected video in which Gonzalez had the serious business car of the West Side Base ride and was on their way to the center about 19 minutes before the shooting was on their way. Another camera showed the tow trucks that traveled together around the time of the incident.
Less than three months after the shooting, two men were shot in a serious business tow truck in the 3600 block of North Avondale in Irving Park. The State Police researchers later seized two phones from Gonzalez in the Illinois Masonic Medical Center on the same day, says the archiving of the court. It is unclear whether Gonzalez was one of the victims in that shooting.
Searchers performed on the telephones showed that one of them was in the area of the Kennedy Expressway that shot at the time of crime, said prosecutors. The number of the other phone is the number that Gonzalez would have used to name the rival towing company with threats.
