CHICAGO – Transit detectives have released surveillance images of three people wanted for committing a robbery on the Red Line late Tuesday night. CWBChicago first reported on the crimes Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the robbers robbed their first victim near Bryn Mawr around 10:50 p.m. and forced him off the train at a station north of Uptown. He told police that five or six men wearing hoodies repeatedly punched him in the face and took his phone, glasses and AirPod case.
Shortly afterwards, another robbery took place near the Sheridan station. A man reported boarding at Howard and being ambushed by five to seven people somewhere between Wilson and Sheridan. The group hit him, took his phone, opened his backpack and took his bank cards. He refused medical attention.
Soon, another robbery was reported at the Clark-Division stop. That victim lost his Apple Watch and iPhone to the crew.
Police said the victims were attacked without provocation and that the crew forced each victim to leave the train after being robbed.
While the victims described a larger group of people, police have identified three suspects seen in the surveillance footage above.

CWBChicago was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had become discouraged by the inaccurate information presented during local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has since expanded to Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to provide original public safety reporting with better context and more detail than mainstream media. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
