CHICAGO – Mass Transit detectives have released CTA surveillance images of a man they believe is responsible for the stabbing of a Red Line passenger on the North Side. They also linked the same man to another violent attack on the Red Line last month.

Around 1:10 p.m. on Monday, September 9, the 37-year-old victim got into an argument with another passenger as they rode a northbound train near Wilson, Chicago police said. The argument turned physical and the other man, seen in these photos, pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times, CPD said.

The victim left the train in Wilson and collapsed in a ladies’ room at the Riviera Theater, 4746 North Racine, where he works. Police and ambulance personnel found him there.

Meanwhile, the attacker, who had a bandage wrapped around his right hand, also fled the Wilson station. CTA security cameras reportedly recorded him dropping a knife and picking it up again as he fled east on Wilson Avenue.

The same man was involved in a battery at the Fullerton Red Line station on Aug. 1, police said, but they released no further details about the earlier incident.

CPD said the suspect is between 20 and 35 years old, 6 feet tall and weighs 200 to 215 pounds. He was wearing the blue hat and green hood during the stabbing, police said.
