The Polkadot Blockchain Academy (PBA) has revealed that it will host a new developer course in Switzerland as part of its European comeback. Beginning in March 2025, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) will host Cohort 6 of PBA Campus.
For the first time in over two years, the Polkadot Blockchain Academy will be held in Europe for Cohort 6. As part of the Zug Blockchain initiative and the establishment of the new institute for blockchain research, classes will be held at the HSLU campus in collaboration with their Blockchain lab. Developers will learn practical skills for working with Polkadot and using blockchain technology to create innovative web3 applications during the nearly three-week session.
Dr. Gavin Wood and many other prominent Polkadot figures will teach essential topics in Cohort 6. These will provide students with a comprehensive blockchain education and equip them with the information they need to become the next wave of innovators and thought leaders in the blockchain space to become an engineer.
While Polkadot’s tech stack is the main focus of the course material, PBA is intended for blockchain developers from diverse backgrounds and ecosystems. It is aimed at developers who are web2 developers considering moving to web3 or developers who are currently working with blockchain.
PBA’s European cohort is expected to be in high demand and must therefore pass a strict screening procedure. Candidates must successfully complete a multiple-choice test demonstrating their understanding of the basics of blockchain. Polkadot Blockchain Academy has created an online school called PBA-X, which may provide less experienced developers with the information they need to pass the test. To be admitted, a programming assignment and interview must be successfully completed.
The Polkadot Treasury will pay all course fees, accommodation and half board for the approximately 100 developers expected to be admitted to Cohort 6 at the HSLU. Two technical tracks will be available for the first time: the Dapps off-chain track and the established protocol on-chain track. This session, which will make its debut in Rotkreuz, Zug, will provide students with the tools they need to successfully navigate the rapidly changing world of decentralized apps and the technologies that enable them.
The Zug cohort of the Polkadot Blockchain Academy offers developers the opportunity to grow their professional careers, meet like-minded builders, and advance their knowledge and skills. Participants can use this opportunity as a springboard to further their web3 careers and find new opportunities when Polkadot-based teams are hiring in 2025. Organizations interested in graduate advancement include Parity Technologies, the lead developer of Polkadot, Web3 Foundation and Polkadot Fellows. .
All backgrounds and experience levels are welcome to register for the PBA. It allows developers to gain a deeper understanding of Polkadot’s SDK and architecture. Alumni become Polkadot Fellows, start their own businesses and get work with ecosystem initiatives. PBA provides a solid foundation for learning the fundamentals of blockchain technology and is taught by Dr. Gavin Wood and other Polkadot characters. The PBA is looking for the next generation of fixtures that Web3 needs.
