Prosecutors: Man who tried to kill Chicago Cop during the traffic stop was on a crime pretrial release
Malcolm Harris (Chicago Police Department)

The man who was accused of trying to kill a Chicago police officer by hitting the agent with his car during a traffic stop was on a crime pretrial in Dupage County, according to the court reports.

Malcolm Harris, 40, was held this week by judge James Murphy III, about two weeks after he reportedly beat the officer with a pick -up.

The agent, who has been to the fight for almost two years, put Harris in an alley behind the 4700 block of West Madison on 3 May, said officials. Harris tried to drive away from the stop, but CPD units brought him.

The prosecutors said that the police approached his Chevy truck from 1987 on foot when he accelerated the vehicle in the officer and dragged him to a fence and the ground.

Judge Murphy said in a detention -Petition that prosecutors believe that Harris had a firearm during the traffic stop, but had passed on the weapon to another person. However, officers only arrested this week, and he is not responsible for owning the weapon.

He is accused of attempted murder of a peace officer and worsened battery with a deadly weapon.

Records of the County County game appears that he was pretial release for a hanging identity theft case.

Note of the editors: Because the charges of the identity theft, awaiting Harris are in a different district, he will not be included in the list of CWBCHICAGO of people accused of shooting, killing or trying to shoot or kill people while he is on a crime. However, he will be mentioned as an ‘unfair mention’.
