After a nerve-wracking finale on top of a volcano, the celebrity edition of Race Across the World has finally come to an end.
The spin-off series took viewers to South America, with four couples traveling from the Amazon in Brazil to the Andes in Chile. Earlier this year, the main series visited Asia, with five couples trying to make their way from Japan to Indonesia.
The show is a brilliant way to see parts of the world that may not have been on your radar before, and think about the best way to tackle a race on a budget. But when will the BBC return? We’ve gathered everything we know so far.

Will Race Across the World return for season 5?
Good news: Race Across the World is coming back! The show was renewed for another season and registrations opened earlier this year (although they are now sadly closed).
When could Race Across the World season 5 be released?
The BBC has not yet confirmed when the show will return. However, the past few main seasons have aired in March or April. Based on that, we expect Race Across the World to air on BBC One in spring 2025.
When we have a confirmed release date, we will update this article.
Do we know the route for Race Across the World season 5?
No route has yet been confirmed for the next season of Race Across the World. However, we can look at previous episodes to potentially rule out other areas:
- Series 1: London to Marina Bay (Checkpoints in Greece, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, China, Cambodia and Singapore)
- Series 2: Mexico City to Ushuaia (checkpoints in Honduras, Panama, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Brazil)
- Series 3: Vancouver to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (Checkpoints all in Canada)
- Celebrity Series 1: Marrakech to Tromsø (Checkpoints in Portugal, France, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Norway)
- Series 4: Sapporo to Gili Meno (Checkpoints in Japan, South Korea, Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia)
- Celebrity Series 2: Belém to Frutillar (Checkpoints in Brazil, Argentina and Chile)
Important locations not visited at all on this list include the USA, Africa and Oceania. Of course, there are also large parts of Europe and Asia that have also remained untouched.
South America seems very unlikely, as several countries have now been visited twice.
Who won Celebrity Race Across the World season 2?
Major spoilers for the final season of Race Across the World below
Despite Jeff and Freddy entering the final stage with the highest budget, Scott and Sam took some big gambles and managed to reach the final, spectacular checkpoint first.
Kola and Mary Ellen were only a few hours behind them, while the other two couples were hampered by public transport problems.
