Now that we’re halfway through the year, we’re ready for another round of innovations, as all signs point to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 arriving, as well as the long-awaited successor to the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. We may also delve deeper into the Samsung Smart Glasses, which were briefly shown earlier this year during the Google I/O event.
What really has our attention, though, is what Samsung plans to do with its foldable lineup in 2026. Considering this is the year Apple is expected to finally debut its first foldable device in the iPhone Ultra, Samsung needs to bring out the big guns and prepare itself for the competition it’s ever faced in this space.

A possible name change
Just when we thought we had a good idea of what the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has in store, now it seems like Samsung wants to shake things up with a new naming convention that has us scratching our heads.
We already knew, given the numerous rumors currently swirling, that there will be two book-style foldable phones from Samsung this year, the more traditional long phone that would serve as a direct successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and a cracker alternative that opens up to look more like a tablet and mimics the supposed design of the upcoming iPhone Ultra.
Until recently we called these devices the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold Wide, but if the latest news is to be believed, they will not be called that at launch.
