Although recycling paper uses less water than producing the material from Houtpulp, the process still requires considerable energy and resources. The team behind RESKETCH has found a way to completely skip that step.

Founded by the artist established in Chicago Shawn Smith and now helped by Skaaren -DesignThe company makes notebooks and sketch pads from unused architectural diagrams, maps, logs, sheet music and more. The resulting designs offer users the opportunity to be creative with the original markings and to add their own additions to the printed pages. Browsing a notebook also makes an act of discovery because old calendars or bureaucratic shapes are stopped between graphs and lines.

“Through partnerships with the creative community and local and national companies, we save 8 to 10 tons every year high -quality, unused paper that would otherwise enter the waste stream prematurely,” says Resketch. The company is currently cooperating with schools, companies, architectural firms and creatives in the US to find materials with just enough empty space for a Doodle or Task List.
