A 75-year-old retired detective was shot by his son while fought in their house in Long Island on Wednesday morning, officials said.
Christopher Miller, 43, is said to have destroyed his father – former police of Suffolk County Police Department John “Jack” Miller – several times with a shotgun during an explosive argument in their Dix Hills House around 7.25 am, according to the police.
The chaos unfolded when the younger Miller came home after being released from a local hospital after a car accident on Monday, according to News 12 Long Island.

His father did not hear from him and reported him missing a day before the bloodshed.
The son “recently moved the house with his father after a divorce,” said Lieutenant -Detective Kevin Breyer of the Suffolk County police on site.
After the fatal shooting, Christopher Miller ran and hid in a nearby barn on Seaman Neck Road, which called the homeowner produced 911.
Commenting agents brought him back to his house near Bruno Lane and Andover Drive, where they found the father dead in a puddle of blood.
The police arrested Christopher Miller and accused him of murder.
He was taken to the hospital for injuries sustained by the crash, the police said.
His preliminary guide is being treated at a later date.
A member of the Miller family refused to comment when he was reached by telephone on Wednesday evening by telephone.
