Rideshare Driver Shot, 2 drivers of food deliverers robbed on the same West Side Block since Friday

Carjackers shot a ride trailer on a West Side Street on Friday evening and also robbed two people on the same block and a fourth person around the corner before the weekend was over. The Chicago police linked all crimes in a warning released to the public on Monday.

CPD thinks the same people are responsible for all incidents – a maximum of three men who work together to target victims in the afternoon and evening.

At about 20:47 Friday, a 24-year-old driver of Rideshare was shot during a hijacking attempt in the 300 block of South Whipple, the police said. The victim was in his car when an armed man walked up and tried to take his vehicle. But the carjacking failed and the perpetrator shot the victim before he walked away. CPD said that Rideshare’s driver brought himself to the Stroger hospital for the treatment of a shot wound to his foot.

About four hours earlier, three men robbed two men on the same block as the victims moved furniture from a home.

Subsequently, a driver of food delivery was robbed when he was in his vehicle on the corner of Whipple and Jackson on Saturday.

At about 16.52 hours on Sunday, another food delivery driver was robbed when he delivered food in the 300 block of South Whipple.

In a third incident, the victim was a food delivery driver that was robbed when he supplied food on the same block within a dot frame.

CPD said that the suspects are black men between 16 and 20 years old with black face masks. They are 5’6 “to 5’9” long and weigh between 130 and 170 pounds. One of them has a tattoo above his right eyebrow.
