Building contractors were the target of a theft crew, at least twice this week, once in Lincoln Park and again on Logan Square, according to Chicago Police Department.
Around 11:15 am on Monday, two masked men left a black vehicle and confronted a work team in the 1600 block of North La Salle, outside the Moody Church.
According to a police report, with a firearm and steel portfolios of two construction workers and tools from their truck. One thief accidentally left a mobile on the spot, a mistake that could help the police to crack the case.
Witnesses reported that the suspects fled north on La Salle. They were described as black men who wore black hoodies, who spend a black vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet, with the license plate.
Another robbery took place around 1:45 pm on Tuesday in the 1800 block of North Whipple. Two men dressed in black left a gray Mercedes and broke into the truck of a plumber, according to a CPD report. When the plumber tried to intervene, the suspects attacked him.
No arrests were made for both incidents.
Some theft crews specialize in the aiming of construction workers. Last September the police spent a community Alert on such a group.
At the end of last month, public prosecutors accused a man of robbing a building team under shot. CPD previously linked that incident to nine similar robberies at construction sites this year.
