The Fan Edition (FE) models have been present in Samsung’s Galaxy S series phones for several years.
This is a slightly cheaper variant, which combines the features of a flagship phone with a price tag that almost resembles that of the best mid-range phones.
However, the range could be about to expand, with reports suggesting that the Korean giant could introduce the FE model of one of its foldable phones.
But what would such a device have to offer? Here’s everything we know about it at the moment.
When will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE be released?
At this summer’s Galaxy Unpacked event, the Galaxy Z Flip FE, while expected, was noticeably absent. The devices on display were only the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
However, no rumors have emerged regarding the cancellation of this phone, which cannot be said for the Galaxy Z Fold FE. According to a report from SamMobile, Samsung has no plans to release a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold.
It is therefore expected that Samsung may still be working on the Galaxy Z Flip FE.

Since this will be the first flip phone in the FE series, we don’t have a timetable for its release. Fan Edition models usually appear a few months after the release of the original device.
According to a rumor from China (via GSMArena), a new foldable FE phone could debut alongside the upcoming Galaxy S25 Slim sometime in the future. April 2025. Ross Young has added that “a Samsung FE clamshell will finally arrive in 2025”.
The device could also launch alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, both of which are expected to be unveiled in 2017 July 2025.

How much will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE cost?
We don’t have any official information about the price of the Galaxy Z Flip FE. However, we expect it to be priced cheaper than last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the recent Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Here are the starting prices of the previous Galaxy Z Flip phones at launch:
What specifications and features will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE have?
So far, there haven’t been many leaks or rumors about the Galaxy Z Flip FE.
A report on Chinese site MyDrivers provides a few details about what we might see, but we recommend taking it with a grain of salt.
Design
The leak claims that the phone will measure 165.2 x 71.9 x 6.9mm when unfolded. That’s exactly the same as the Z Flip 5, so we expect it to also measure 85.1 x 71.9 x 15.1mm when folded.

We don’t know much else about the design, although it will probably fall somewhere between the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 4.
It’s possible the phone has the exact same body as last year’s model, but the external screen may come from the Z Flip 4.
The FE model needs to differentiate itself from its more powerful counterpart, so it could see a smaller external screen in addition to weaker components.
Display
As a reminder, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 introduced a brand new, larger external display, which offers much more functionality than that of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and its predecessors.
If the leaked dimensions are correct, it appears that the interior display will also be the same size as the Galaxy Z Flip 5, with a diagonal of 6.7 inches. Likewise, the cover display can be a 3.4-inch panel.

Alternatively, it could be the Z Flip 4’s 1.9-inch cover display.
Performance
The first rumors from China say that the Galaxy Z Flip FE could be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. Instead, it could also possibly be powered by an Exynos chip, as is often the case with Samsung models in Europe .
According to Jukanlosreve it will even run on the Exynos 2400. However, by the time the FE arrives, that chipset will be a year old. Therefore, they now claim that the phone will be powered by the Exynos 2400e.
Despite its cost-cutting focus, the Exynos 2400e is said to offer solid performance in the Galaxy S24 FE (according to GSMArena), making it a sensible choice for the Galaxy Z Flip FE.
In terms of RAM, we are looking at a single 8 GB version, combined with 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB of internal memory.
Cameras
The Z Flip 6 prototype is rumored to have a 50MP main lens, compared to the Z Flip 5’s 12MP.
If true, that could mean the Z Flip FE will retain the Z Flip 5’s 12MP main shooter. The rest of the setup could be the same, including 12Mp ultra-wide camera and 10Mp selfie camera.
Samsung
Battery and charging
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a 3700mAh cell that delivers solid battery life. This is expected to be the same in the Z Flip 6 and the FE variant will likely include that cell as well.
We don’t expect it to support charging speeds above 25W. If Samsung decides to include them, it could also feature 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
Software
The Z Flip FE is expected to run Samsung’s One UI 7 based on Android 15, likely including flip-exclusive features from the Z Flip 6 or the Z Flip 5 and Galaxy AI.
