When it comes to foliage, there’s a reason it’s called “green.” But for a photographer from Cornwall Tom Leightonordinary plants take on otherworldly dimensions when shown in unexpected hues.

The artist’s latest series, Legendary Gardens II, focuses primarily on giant rhubarb, ferns and rhododendrons, highlighting the captivating patterns and layers of leaves, foliage and flowers. Leighton illuminates the botanicals at night, creating sharp contours against a dark background.

Leighton’s photographs (formerly) highlight what he describes as the ‘forces that shape the natural world’, using the power of light and color to illustrate dynamic biological processes such as photosynthesis, reproduction, growth and decay.

The artist is currently preparing for upcoming print releases. Follow updates Instagramand discover more about him website And Behance.
