An ailing officer accused of fatally strangling a woman outside a Times Square hotel was arrested in New Jersey on Tuesday, according to law enforcement sources.
Accused brute Jaheem Warren, 33, stalked a 23-year-old woman he randomly attacked as she walked through Midtown on October 29.
Warren strangled her and dumped her unconscious body on a sidewalk in front of the Riu Plaza New York Times Square Hotel on West 46th Street, where she was found by hotel staff.
The victim, 23-year-old local resident Leslie Toerres, was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she died on Nov. 4, sources said.
The brutal attack was captured on a surveillance camera.
Warren was arrested in Prospect Park in Passaic County by the United States Marshal Service and charged with two counts of murder.
The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was taken off life support on November 8, sources said.
Warren has an extensive convicted criminal history in New Jersey, records show.
Warren served more than four years in prison after being convicted in 2019 of drug trafficking and money laundering, jail records show.
He was released in June 2023, but was back behind bars in November of that year and charged again with drug trafficking. He was released on March 6.
When asked by reporters outside the Midtown North precinct if he had attacked the woman, Warren, handcuffed, said “no” before being placed in the back of a cruiser.
In addition to the two murder charges, he was also charged with two counts of assault and two counts of strangulation, sources said.
