The artist established in Beijing is deeply influenced by traditional Chinese philosophy and calligraphy. As a tool instead of a stand-in for human creativity, he is interested in how Machine Learning encourages us to consider the authorship more carefully.
Through a creative approach that changes between people and machine, LU compares his process with “an relay, with the artwork itself as the baton.” He continues:
I give the baton to the computer, and it gives it back to me, each of us is the piece in turn. The final result is not entirely predictable. The existence of the world is defined by balance and none of us can escape from this principle. That is why I embrace this method both in my life and in my work, where the creation process is related to the growth of life.
