Spotify is adding a new mode to its phone app for people who like to listen to music while running. The new running mode shows numbers based on different running phases and selects songs based on your preferences and pace.

Paid subscribers can find running mode in Fitness Hub and can choose from one of 25 presets. Users can choose their workout type from options such as interval runs, regular runs or pyramid, and can adjust the duration, strokes per minute and the type of music they want to listen to.

In addition to playing songs, running mode can also create audio cues for different phases of your run. This feature only works in English for now.

The new mode uses the AI techniques that Spotify has tested over the past year as part of the requested playlists. The streaming platform noticed that many people use this feature to create lists for fitness and training activities, and this new running mode was inspired by those observations.

Earlier this year, the company introduced fitness content to fitness equipment manufacturer Peloton.

The running mode comes a few months after fitness app Strava said Spotify would no longer integrate the Record function into the app.

The feature will be available starting Wednesday for Premium users on iOS in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden.
