If someone testing the phones for a living, I know how important the display is real. A great makes doing everything more pleasant, while a Sub-Par can quickly ruin the experience.
But my favorite displays on every phone do not come on an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy Phone or Google Pixel telephone. You will not even find them on OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, Motorola or Honor Handsets.
Instead, it is TCL telephones that use the NXTAPER technology of the company. I would probably have to expect nothing less from one of the world’s largest TV makers, but the beauty of NXTAPER devices is their versatility.

First, I love the Matt coating of the display (similar to the Xiaomi Pad 7 Matte Glass version that we also saw in the show), which means that you get none of the unpleasant reflections that are common on shiny screens. Visibility in actually an environment, including direct sunlight, is no problem.
Crucial is that the MATT screen does not prevent regular color mode from supplying the rich, vibrant colors that we associate with shiny displays. Content looks clear and clear, which means that it is still a good option for content consumption.

However, it is the other modes that really distinguish TCL telephones from the competition. A ‘color paper mode’ lowers saturation and introduces softer colors for a paper -like experience. The ‘ink paper mode’ exchanges the colors for black and white, making it even easier for your eyes.
Then there is the ‘Max Ink Mode’. Although it is still monochrome, it reduces the refresh rate to deliver a large boost for the battery life.
Although not new, I tried it for the first time at MWC 2025 and I believe that the NXTAPER telephones makes it even better.

It is also great if you want to prevent distractions. In ‘Max Ink Mode’, TCL is only possible up to seven third -party apps that are available, making it great if you have to get a focused work or just want some uninterrupted reading time.
Even if you add Tiktok or Instagram, the apps become a lot less interesting without all the clear colors that compete for your attention. If someone who wants to build a healthier relationship with his phone, this really appeals to me.
In Settings you can choose which of the three modes you want to be your most important alternative to normal color mode. You can then easily switch between them by simply switching the physical ‘NXTAPER key’ on the side of the device.

More than just a good screen?
Other important features on the 60 Nxtpaper are a 108MP reversing camera, MediaTek Helio G92 chipset and a generous 5200 mAh battery. After spending a few minutes with it, I think this can be the future of budget telephones, especially with that low asking price of € 199.
However, the big catch now is that TCL has no immediate plans to bring the phone to the UK or the US. I really hope that will change soon.
For something that we know it is coming to Europe, the £ 179.99 60 SE Nxtpaper 5G also benefits from the four different display modes. You must tolerate a relegated 6.7 -inch HD+ screen and 50MP main camera, although the 5200 mAh battery capacity remains.
The TCL 60 NXTAPER is one of the many products and concepts that made it in the best of MWC 2025 awards from Tech Advisor.
