Busy week, so let’s go there. Starting with federal regulations! Woohoo. Exciting things.

I’m talking about the US Department of TransportThe new automated vehicle framework, including one Standard general order (SGO) on crash report for vehicles equipped with certain advanced driver systems and automated rice systems. There were also some changes in the Automated vehicle exemption program (Avep).

In short, the AVEP treats language and processes of domestic and imported vehicles that receive exemptions. I want to spend a little more time on the SGOWhat has more important changes. The Trump government says it streamlines the process; Others, such as consumer reports, disagree.

The SGO ends a 24-hour reporting requirement and allows companies to submit a report for five days instead if a vehicle with a level 2 system is involved in a crash. As Consumer reports, the new order also changes the reporting requirements for when a vehicle with level 2 driving automation is towed away after a crash.

In the past, every vehicle with a level 2 or higher advanced driver-assistance system that was involved in a crash in which there was no fatal or a vulnerable road user, such as a pedestrian or cyclist, had to report it within five days. Now the rule only applies to vehicles with advertisements (automated Rijsystemen), which today cuts most of the vehicles on the road.

That means that if a tesla with autopilot is involved (or a GM vehicle with Super Cruise or Ford with its BlueCruises system on) crashes and must be dragged, it does not have to report that the FBI is on the FBI, as long as the incident is not deadly, a pedestrian user, a use of a medical treatment, a use of a medical treatment, a useer or treatment, a useer, a useer or treatment, a useer or a treatment or a treatment or a treatment or a treatment or a treatment or a treatment or a treatment or a treatment, a treatment or a treatment for medical treatment or a treatment, or a useer -for -use treatment or a treatment for medical treatment, or a user -in -house treatment or a treatment, or a use of treatment, or a use of a treatment or a use of a medical treatment or a treatment for a medical treatment. Air bags that are sought or an air bags. Security.

Reporting is still required for each vehicle with level 2 ADAS (such as Tesla Autopilot) or advertisements in a crash in which there is a deadly, an airbag is deployed, a person is transported to the hospital or a vulnerable road user is hit.

During an interview at a Semafor event, Dot secretary Sean Duffy Seems to give a nod to those rules (although he says “autonomously” and not “Adas”) when he said: “What we want to do is be able to get good data, but if there is a scrap of paint from an autonomous vehicle, the reporting requirements became very difficult and challenging, and it delayed the process.”

SlateThe EV-Startup supported by Bezos broke cover at an event in Long Beach, California. Many of the details that senior reporter Sean O’Kane reported in his first scoop were finally presented to the public.

Earlier in the week we published some other insider details thanks to a few small birds that describe how leaders described the Slate EV internally as a “transformer” -as in the animated “More than meets eye” series. It turns out exactly what the company pitches to customers.

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai received some attention to comments during the company’s profit call about its self -driving vehicle unit Waymo. In response to a question, he said, as part of a longer answer, “there is also future optionality regarding personal property.”

Waymo has vaguely spoken about the license of his technology (probably to car manufacturers), so I wouldn’t read too much about this. But it is certainly remarkable that Pichai said it in a profit call.

Tesla started testing its autonomous Ride-Hail service with employees in Austin and the Bay Area prior to the planned robotaxi launch of the company this summer.

Volkswagen of America And Uber Plan to launch a commercial robotaxi service -using autonomous electric VW -ID. Buzz vehicles – in several American cities the next decade.

The companies expect to launch a commercial service in Los Angeles at the end of 2026, although it will initially be for human security drivers. The news brought me back to 2017-18 and an era of partnership announcements, many of which have never been released. VW has a lot of work to do before it is launched commercially, including obtaining even the most basic test permit.

Aidan GomezThe co-founder and CEO of Generative AI Startup Cochere, joined Rivian’s Board. I don’t want to read too deeply in the appointment, but it does indicate the interest of Rivian to apply AI to his own company, while he positions himself as a software director – and even provider – within the car industry.

Faraday Future Somehow still exists and his board has appointed founder Jia Yueting as co-CEO of the company, three years after he was set aside after an internal probe for accusations of fraud. Note: An investigation into Securities and Exchange Commission will be underway.

Tesla The income supported a hypothesis that I have cooked in my brain for a while. The company exists in conflicting realities. In one, Tesla’s profit falls by 71% JoJ, the car income continues to fall and its energy company is exposed to the trade war in the US-China. In the other side, Tesla is really an AI company that finally has the attention of his CEO Elon Musk and is about to launch an autonomous vehicle-hailing service and a cheaper EV, although it still has to do.

Investors took the Tesla-is-an-Innovator reality through with both hands and they really do not want to let go-even if the reality is that anti-mosk-sentiment influences the brand and even an official risk in his regulatory application. Musk’s remarks about assigning more time to Tesla and less at Doge helped them push them there.
