Two people have been charged with the death of a Fort Campbell soldier who was stabbed nearly 70 times last year, the police said on Saturday.
Sofia Rodas, 35, is accused of murder in the first degree and tampering with evidence in the death of the US Army Private First Class Katia Dueñas Aguilar, 23, said Clarksville’s police in a press release.
Aguilar’s body was found in her house in the city of Clarksville in Tennessee.
Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, the husband of Aguilar, is accused of messing with evidence in her death.
Both Salinas Cruz, 40 and Rodas were held on non -related federal charges.
They were extradited to Clarksville on Friday, the police said.
Their lawyers in their federal affairs could not call back immediately on Saturday.
The details regarding the costs were not immediately available.
Dueñas Aguilar, from Mesquite Texas, joined the army in 2018 and a year later came to Fort Campbell, on the border with Tennessee-Kentucky.
She was a member of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division.
An autopsy report from the Montgomery County Medical Examiner office said Dueñas Aguilar 68 stab wounds on her neck and upper body.
The medical investigator judged the cause of death as a murder as a result of competitive-force injuries of the neck.
