A high school teacher in Texas who was accused of sex with a male student, turned in the police this week – a year after she was sued and an order was issued for her arrest, according to reports.
Molly Colleen Spears, 35, an art and linguist at Barbers Hill School in Mont Belvieu, was arrested on Tuesday and accused of second-degree in inappropriate relationship between educator and student for an incident on 12 June 2023, according to judicial records and local points of sale.
She is also accused of contact with the student – whose age was not revealed – via text to meet each other.
Spears, who started working in August 2021 in the Barbers Hill Independent School District, resigned from her position in June 2023, announced the district, announced, announced KPRC 2 reported.
“From August 2021 to June 2023, Molly Spears worked as a high school teacher for Barbers Hill ISD. She resigned earlier this month,” a spokesperson for the district told the outlet at the time.

The now formator teacher was charged on 8 February 2024 by a large jury of Chambers County, with an order for her arrest issued a few days later, according to judicial data.

It remains unclear why she was not taken into custody at that time.
