One of the men attacked in Penn Station by a dagger-wielding maniac with “rage in his eyes” was stabbed through the temple and suffered a traumatic brain injury.
The gruesome details surrounding Hector Deleon’s alleged Sunday rampage, which left four other people with cuts and stab wounds, were revealed on Friday as the madman was charged with seven counts of attempted murder.
Deleon, 51, allegedly plunged his double-edged blade into a victim’s head, puncturing the left temporal lobe, according to a criminal complaint.
The unknown man suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and traumatic brain injury.
The wild-eyed suspect, who sources said was likely high on drugs during the stabbing, stabbed four other people in the random attack and punched two others in the face.
the complaint alleged.
One of the victims, Henry Obadiah, 60, was on his way home to New Jersey when Deleon set his sights on him.
“The crazy man looked at me and was just watching me! He punched me right in the face and I was like, ‘What the fuck?’ And I heard the man on the escalator say, ‘He has a knife! He has a knife!’” Obadiah said.
“I didn’t realize I had just been punched in the face,” he recalls.
“He came at me to kill me! I saw the anger in his eyes,” Obadiah said of the homeless lunatic.
Deleon was also charged with five counts of assault and six counts of attempted assault.
“This was a terrifying attack in the middle of Penn Station during an incredibly busy time in New York City,” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement.
“We will pursue accountability in this matter and continue to prioritize preventing these types of random and violent incidents.”
Deleon’s heavy criminal record includes at least seven past arrests since 2008, including a 2022 stabbing in Newark that is eerily similar to the Penn Station attack.
In that case, he was accused of stabbing a man in the neck with a six-inch knife, court records show. He pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and received only two years’ probation when he was sentenced the following year.
Deleon was held without bail at his arraignment Friday.
