Albany, NY (AP) – An Iraqi man who lives in the state of New York has been accused of illegal votes in the 2020 elections, according to US public prosecutors, who said that the Ministry of Government Efficiency of Elon Musk helped in the study.
Akeel Abdul Jamiel, 45, lived in South Glens Falls, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of Albany, when he voted in Saratoga County “fully knowing that he was not a citizen of the United States,” said a charging document of 25 April.
He is accused of voting by alien beings, a crime that can be punished with a maximum of one year in prison.
“Election protection is and will remain one of the highest national security priorities of the FBI,” said Craig Tremaroli, special agent responsible for the Albany Field Office of the FBI, in a press release from a Ministry of Justice.
Attempts to reach Jamiel were not successful. Messages emailed to addresses used by Jamiel in the past, bounced back or did not result in an immediate response. A message was also left on a telephone number for Jamiel in a court application in a non -related lawsuit. Court reports did not indicate whether he has a lawyer.
President Donald Trump has blamed widespread voters fraud for his loss of Joe Biden in the 2020 elections, despite analyzes showing that Claim was incorrect. Public data indicate that Jamiel was registered as a member of the conservative party of New York the month before the elections.
“Only American citizens can vote for American elections,” said the post of the Ministry of Justice. “Thanks to our partnership @Doge, this Doj has charged an Iraqi man for illegal votes in the 2020 elections.”
It is not clear who Jamiel voted during the elections. In a 2019 lawsuit, however, he identified himself as a Trump supporter.
In the case against mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio, Jamiel claimed that his rights were violated because New York was too tolerant of illegal immigration. He recorded several letters in the suit that he had sent to the White House and complained that America was ‘under invasion’ by people who entered the country illegally. Jamiel also recorded a letter that he had received in response from the White House, signed by Trump, thank him for his correspondence.
Since DOGE was founded by Trump to reduce waste and fraud in the government, its employees have managed to manage the government’s workforce and federal property. The office of the public prosecutor did not respond to the role of Doge in the investigation into Jamiel.
