Public prosecutors have sued a man of attempted murder and say that he repeatedly stabbed a friend during a dispute they would look over.
The Chicago police responded around 3:30 am to an apartment in the 7700 block of South Yates on April 23 after a witness called 911 about the stabbing.
The police found a 42-year-old man in the apartment who had been stabbed seven times, including three times in the back.
Officials said that the witness and the victim reported that Sayyid Thomas, 33, changed the channel on the TV and caused an argument between Thomas and the victim.
The situation got out of hand until Thomas started to stab the victim repeatedly and touch him in the belly, bone, chest, shoulder and buttocks.
CPD officers recently saw Thomas and took him in custody while they were on patrol, according to his arrest report.
Judge Ankur Srivastava held him as a security risk and said that the allegations “so violent, brutal and meaningless” were Thomas that should not wait at home.

CWBCHICAGO was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wigleyville and Boystown who had been discouraged with inaccurate information that was provided during meetings of the local community policing (CAPS). Our coverage area has since been expanded to cover Lincoln Park, River North, De Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas.
