A 1 -month -old Queens Girl died of the sudden death syndrome for babies before the Pit Bull family hit her face this week in a tragic incident, the child’s parents in an interview with the post claimed.
The couple-Wiens six-week-old pit bull mix called Bella “was put down” after the horrible incident-stated that they had nothing to do with her death.
“I didn’t kill my child,” said mother Lillian Burton in an interview on Thursday.
The baby’s stepfather, who asked for being only identified as Christopher said they didn’t know what happened to the baby to an autopsy this week.
“Our baby lived when we all went to sleep. That’s the last thing we know,” he said.
“Our baby died of SIDS, from the sudden childhood syndrome,” he said. “She also had medical problems. She had a heart -to -heart. The dog ate the baby’s face. It was put down.”
He said he had received Bella only two weeks earlier for his son.
Authorities initially believed that Little Kiyanna Winfield was killed by Bella – until the city’s medical researcher revealed on Wednesday that the baby was already dead when the puppy started biting her face.
“We think the dog is so young that he didn’t understand, but it tried to help the baby because it was only aimed at the mouth and nose,” said Kiyanna’s stepfather.
“We think the baby might be craving for air and the puppy didn’t know it was part of her, so the puppy tried to erase what was on her face to breathe,” he said. “We don’t think the puppy deliberately hurt our child.”
The medical researcher has not yet publicly released a cause of death.
The parents said they woke up shortly after 6 hours on Tuesday with the horrible scene, with sources that said that a “substantial part” had been cut off from the face of Kiyanna.
“I feed my children well,” said the girl’s mother, Lillian Burton, Thursday. “They are well fed. They have changed well. They are well put together.
“I take good care of my children,” said Burton. “For someone to say that my children are malnourished, that’s not true.”
“She died of SIDS … and then the dog ate her.”
The couple said that they are now locked up from their apartment in the public housing complex of Queensbridge Houses.
In the meantime, the police said on Thursday that there was no crime suspected when the baby’s death awaiting further investigation.
