Chicago – American post inspectors have arrested a man for possession of the main key of a postman and stealing letters from a mailbox on the northwest side. The Chicago police helped post inspectors Donald Hill, 35, to be detained in the 6900 block of West Belmont around 5:40 am last Thursday, March 20, according to a CPD report.

Hill is responsible for taking letters from a Dropbox from the American post at 6900 West Belmont before being arrested. The report said that researchers took him in custody when he posted him a piece of mail in the same mailbox on Thursday morning.

Hill walked away when a post inspector approached him and even crashed his car while trying to return from a nearby parking space, according to the report.

Researchers are said to have found the main key of a postman, also known as an ‘arrow key’, in his possession. Arrow keys enable post -employees to open blue mailboxes used by the public, as well as E -mail relay boxes and most apartment buildings and banks of mailboxes in postrooms for residential buildings.

Officers of Justice accused Hill of possession of burglary tools, two counts of theft of lost or failed property and small driving violations.

Mail thieves are front-line foot soldiers in much larger, organized criminal activities that benefit by operating the content of envelopes by checking identity theft and cash schemes.

The activities are also the reason why so many post carriers in Chicago area have been robbed of their main keys in recent years.
