(Los Angeles, CA / October 31, 2023) – Tiffany Chan, Ed.D. introduces an informative new article for her Tiffany’s Secret Diary page, “The Invisible Struggle of Content Creation: My Fight Against Copyright Infringement, Impersonation, and the Cost of Protection.”
In the revealing piece, Chan delves into the often overlooked ups and downs of content creation, as well as the emotional and financial toll of protecting her work from rampant content theft and online impersonation.
“Content creation is more than a full-time job for me. It’s planning weeks in advance, staying on top of trends in everything from fashion to music, and learning tools to create compelling content that drives great engagement, all while balancing multiple platforms, followers, and fans,” she writes about her profession.
“I love what I do. I have truly never been happier with my career, and there are many benefits to reaching each new level in the world of creation. When I made my first public post on TikTok in 2020, I certainly didn’t expect to be making the kind of living for myself and my family that I am making now. But there is a price to be paid.”
Chan also shares how she had to navigate the exhausting process of filing takedown notices and working with content protection companies, all while balancing her creative work. “Discovering that my content has been stolen is more than frustrating: it’s heartbreaking. Frankly, I feel violated intellectually and personally…
“This theft not only undermines my efforts; it poses a significant risk to anyone who uses social media. It also dilutes my brand because my original content is now associated with fraud.”
She also emphasizes the need for stronger protections for creators. “The current systems designed to protect content creators like me are simply not enough. As platforms evolve, the laws and policies that protect our intellectual property must also change. Social media platforms and websites need to take a more proactive approach to preventing content theft and impersonation, rather than relying on creators to police their own content.”
