Toyota has not sold a medium -sized venture of cars here since the Camry in 2002 and do not count on the Crown Estate To break that spell.
Now for sale in Japan, the Crown Estate is the same vehicle as the Crown Signia that was for sale in the US last year, but with one important difference: an available plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain.
So far, Toyota Australia has chosen not to bring crown models to Australia, with the argument that the family of Quasi-Premium models would step on the luxury brand Lexus’ toes.

Just like the US-Market Crown Signia, the standard powertrain in the crown of the Japanese market is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid with a total system output of 179 kW.
The PHEV drift line of the Crown Estate also uses a 2.5-liter four, but has a larger battery and produces considerably more power with a total system output of 225 kW. This powertrain also plays in the RAV4 overseas, as well as the Lexus NX450H+ that is sold here.
Toyota claims WLTC fuel consumption of 4.9 l/100 km for the hybrid and 5l/100 km for the PHEV.
The latter has a claimed WLTC-all-electric reach of 89 km.
The PHEV version also offers only a rear comfort drive mode.
“When changing lane, the DRS control reduces the lateral G (gravity acceleration) in the back seat,” the company explains.
“This reduces the movement in the rear seats when changing lane.
The Crown Landgoed has Macpherson Strut in front and multi-link rear-wheel suspension, with adaptive dampers.
All Crown Estate models are equipped with dynamic tailgate and Toyotas E-Vier Electric four-wheel drive, with which up to 80 percent of the torque can be distributed to the rear wheels.
There are few visual changes from the Crown Signia that are already for sale in the US, although the Crown Estate PHEV gets an exclusive grayish blue interior color.
The Crown Estate comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
21-inch alloy wheels are standard over the entire range, while other available equipment includes heated, ventilated and power supplies; a head-up display; a panoramic sunroof; hands -free power tailgate; And a digital rear -view mirror.
There is also a semi-autonomous parking aid system that can handle parallel and perpendicular parking, which can also be controlled via a smartphone app from outside the vehicle.
A full series of active safety and drivers aid functions is offered, including autonomous emergency braking with pedestrians, cyclist and motorcycle detection, blind-spot monitoring, emergency control aid, lane control, adaptive cruise control, safe exit assist, traffic sign recognition and the front and rear cross displacement.
Although the crowned mood is almost as long as a kluger, it has only two rows of seats.
This is how the Kroon Estate measures the Kluger here:

Toyota says that the luggage area of the Kroon Landgoed uses a “high -quality fabric with a pleasant texture”, while there is a mechanism for luggage space that creates a completely flat space of two meters long with the rear seats folded.
There is also a pull -out lounger and table.
In Japan, the Crown Estate Z Hybrid is priced from 6,350,000 yen (~ $ 66,600), while the Crown Estate RS is priced from 8,100,000 yen (~ a $ 84,900).
The Crown Estate/Crown Signia is part of a quartet of crown models.
In 2022, Toyota unveiled a new generation crown family, in which the Crown Sedan replaces the 15th generation Kroon and holds rear-wheel drive, and the Crown Crossover, Crown Estate and Crown Sport all with the help of a for-four-wheel drive with models such as the Camry.
All four are sold in Japan, with the Crown Crossover and Crown Signia also exported to markets such as North -America.
