President Donald Trump on Sunday night confirmed that he will meet with comic/talk-show host Bill Maher, who he complained “has been unjustifiably critical of anything, or anyone, TRUMP. ”
Musician and prominent Trump supporter Kid Rock recently brokered the meeting between Maher and Trump in a bid “to try and unite this country.”
Trump said he’ll host the meeting as a favor to Kid Rock, who he called “a very good guy, and friend of mine,” but admitted that he doesn’t like the idea.
He also made a prediction on his Truth Social website:
“The problem is, no matter how much he likes your Favorite President, ME, he will publicly proclaim what a terrible guy I am, etc., very much like the Democrats at my recent Address to the Joint Session of Congress, where I stated, correctly, that no matter what I said or did, they wouldn’t stand, they wouldn’t applaud, they wouldn’t smile or laugh and, certainly, they wouldn’t be in any way ‘nice.’”
“Who knows, though, maybe I’ll be proven wrong?” Trump added. “It might be fun or, it might not, but you will be the first to know!”
Kid Rock and Maher discussed a potential meeting with Trump during a recent episode of Maher’s “Club Random” podcast.
Maher predicted the visit would end with him in Guantanamo Bay.
He said in another interview that he doesn’t expect the meeting will “heal America.”
“It probably will accomplish very little,” he told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo. “But you gotta try, man. You gotta try.”
Maher has been highly critical of Trump and others on the right for years, although he’s also had plenty of issues with the left.
Trump has long railed against comics and talk-show hosts who make jokes about him, and once sued Maher for mockingly offering $5 million for proof Trump was not the son of an orangutan.
That was a reference to Trump’s $5 million offer for then-President Barack Obama’s college records.
Trump ultimately withdrew the lawsuit but has continued to attack late-night shows and hosts.
He called Jimmy Kimmel “one of the dumbest human beings ever” and reportedly tried to have his show censored during his first term. Trump attacked Jimmy Fallon as “weak and pathetic,” called Stephen Colbert a “total loser,” and slammed all of the main network hosts as “the talentless, low rated CREEPS of Late Night Television.”

It’s not clear when Trump will meet with Maher, but the president said UFC CEO Dana White, another prominent supporter, is also expected to attend.
