Former President Donald Trump on Friday blamed Vice President Kamala Harris for the shocking number of illegally living migrants in the US who have been convicted or charged with murder.
Trump, 78, called federal data showing that more than 15,000 illegal immigrants have been charged or convicted of murder the “worst numbers I think I’ve ever heard,” during a town hall event in Warren, Michigan, before addressing the Democratic party criticized. candidate for president.
“It was all done by Comrade Kamala Harris,” the former president said. “Our great border czar, who is incompetent, who is totally incompetent.”
From the data provided to Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, shows that as of July 21, there were 662,566 noncitizens with criminal histories on ICE’s national docket, including 13,099 convicted of murder and 1,845 with pending murder cases. .
ICE currently detains 277 migrants convicted of murder and 51 facing such charges, the agency said, indicating that these individuals will likely be deported.
“They were all released into our country,” Trump said. “And we cannot tolerate this.”
“This is gross incompetence,” the 45th president added.
Trump’s comments in the Wolverine State focused on the auto industry and his proposal to impose sweeping new tariffs if he is elected to a second term in the White House.
He argued that imposing tariffs on Chinese cars produced in Mexico but destined for the U.S. would increase U.S. auto production to “levels not seen in 50 years.”
“[Chinese automakers] I think they’re going to make the cars and sell them here and shut down Detroit, shut down everything in this area, shut down South Carolina – and that’s not going to happen, because we’re going to impose very heavy tariffs on those cars coming across the border.” Trump said.
“We won’t let it happen,” he added.
Returning to immigration, Trump attacked Harris at the end of the town hall, calling the vice president someone “who always complains and does nothing.”
“She’s at the border today,” Trump noted, referring to Harris’ first trip to the U.S.-Mexico border as the Democratic candidate for president. “What a day for the border.”
