Hello friends, colleagues and fans. For those who are concerned and following my health crisis, here is the update.
In early February, I woke up with sudden, severe pain and swelling in my chest that seemed to come out of nowhere after 25 years without any problems—and what followed were ultrasounds, MRIs, and ongoing consultations with multiple doctors and surgeons. It turns out that one of my breast implants ruptured and the silicone migrated to my lymph nodes.
Furthermore, I was shocked to discover that the implants I received years ago as part of a medical study are Allergan 410 “cohesive gummy bear” implants, recalled by the FDA in 2019 due to a documented link to a rare, potentially life-threatening cancer called Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). I experience all the associated symptoms. I was never notified of this recall – not by the manufacturer, and not by the doctor who originally performed my surgery.
What should have been a simple removal and revision procedure has now become a much more complicated and extensive operation.
