CHICAGO – Dramatic, terrifying video shared with CWBChicago captured the sights and sounds of a gunman shooting at a Chicago Fire Department ambulance, opening fire on a man walking a dog and getting into a shootout with Chicago police.

It all unfolded about 20 minutes after, according to CPD, the same man shot a pedestrian from behind as the victim walked through the neighborhood. Officials said the first victim, treated for a gunshot wound to his shoulder and released, was the only person shot — until police neutralized the perpetrator after a 2.5-minute gun battle. He was in critical condition.

Police initially responded Saturday to a call of a person shot in the 2700 block of West Farwell around 9:35 a.m. Saturday after a gunman shot a 39-year-old man. The shooter fled the scene.

But when he returned twenty minutes later, all hell broke loose.

A 65-second video clip shared below begins with four shots fired off-camera as a fire ambulance team activates its siren and passes off-camera.

There is a man standing on the parkway, to the right of a large tree, with a dog that barks a few times. People, possibly police looking for the shooter, speak quickly and hastily. We muted a few seconds of audio to hide a short conversation.

As the noise returns, the man and dog emerge from the parkway and jog along the sidewalk. Just as they leave camera view, the shooter emerges from the alley, just feet away from where they were moments earlier.

He wears a red hoodie and jeans, holds a large gun in his right hand and steps fully into the picture. He takes a shooting stance and fires one shot at the man and the dog.

The gunman shouts something, takes cover in the alley for a moment and then shoots into the street.

Just as he leaves view, there is a shout. A barrage of gunfire lasting several seconds from multiple weapons then followed.

Yesterday, CPD Chief of Detectives Kevin Bruno said the 23-year-old gunman showed up at various locations for more than two minutes firing rounds toward first responders. Police gunfire finally brought him down. Bruno said officers administered life-saving techniques to stabilize his condition.

As of Sunday afternoon, the charges were still pending.
