The Olympian won bronze after clearing 4.85 meters and made history as the first Canadian woman ever to reach the podium in that event.

The Ontario native then went via bottle as she surprised the crowd by twerking to cheers.

Many assumed Newman did so to celebrate her country’s first-ever pole vault medal.

However, the Only fans star revealed that this was not the case as Switzerland’s Angelica Moser made another attempt and could have beaten her to the podium.

Instead, she was just celebrating breaking a Canadian record in the women’s pole vault at Paris 2024.

Newman told the New York Post: “A lot of people think I broke through in dance because of the bronze medal, but then again, I didn’t know I had bronze, Angelica [Moser] from Switzerland had made another attempt, she could easily have taken my place.

“If you know me all these years, I have always celebrated after a Canadian record.

“So I had just jumped with the 4.85 [m] jumping, I’ve jumped a Canadian record, and in the past every competition I’ve ever jumped in I’ve done a backflip, danced, and done whatever came naturally.

Newman also celebrated by feigning a hamstring injury after her record-setting jump.

That was a joke to all the critics who took a negative view of her long injury record, which included knee and ankle knocks and a concussion.

Newman added: “[It’s] If Alysha can stay healthy, she can win a medal.

“I think I faked an injury and then danced. Obviously everyone called it a twerk, but I laugh because I probably haven’t done a great twerk compared to some women and men who can do it better than me.

“But it just came out that faking the injury was more of a plan than the actual twerking, so I’m laughing because it came out clearly and I’m more than happy that people got to see another one. side of me.”

Newman now has her eyes on the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, but will also continue to work on her OnlyFans.

The Canadian launched her channel during the Tokyo Olympics to bring her fans closer to the action as strict COVID-19 laws were still in place.

Newman explained: “The whole reason I started it was a financial reason in 2021, but the idea came from the fact that it was a COVID Olympics and no one could come.

“So I said, how can I take all my fans to the Olympics without being physically there? So originally I was just going to do it for an Olympics and do a 16 day behind the scenes in the Olympic Village.

“It just blew up, so I just kept at it, kept at it over the years and just did what I felt comfortable with: going live with my workouts, showing workout routines, working out my abs – a lot of people want to do abs – the nutrition programs…

“People were so interested in how I went from not even clearing a bar to winning an Olympic medal this year.

“So we kept it because we wanted people who believed in me to be a part of that whole journey, because I felt deep down that I was going to come out the other side of it, and I’m so glad I did, it has been the most wonderful experience for me.”
