After more than 60 hours of frigid, arctic weather, Denver temperatures will finally crawl above freezing Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
The streak of below-freezing temperatures started in metro Denver at 4 p.m. Monday and is forecast to break around noon Thursday, forecasters said. That will put the city’s total time below freezing at 68 hours.
Forecasters said Denver temperatures are expected to peak around 40 degrees Thursday afternoon, though wind gusts up to 15 mph could still feel chilly, and dip down near 21 degrees overnight.
Warmer temperatures and sunny weather will continue Friday with a forecasted high of 52 degrees in Denver, forecasters said.
The Denver area could see off-and-on rain showers Friday afternoon through 11 p.m. and light snow after 2 a.m., NWS forecasters said. There’s only a 50% chance of snowfall and little to no accumulation is expected.
Forecasters said the 50% chance of snow would continue through 11 p.m. Saturday, pushing temperature highs back down into the low 30s.
