A knife-wielding maniac stabbed a worker at a Utah mall and was then pummeled by angry bystanders who controlled him until police arrived, according to police and wild video.
The attack happened Monday around 3 p.m. at the Valley Fair Mall, when the unhinged perpetrator repeatedly stabbed a kiosk employee, West Valley City police said.
But before he could continue his stabbing spree, a group of brave bystanders jumped into the fray and held him until authorities arrived.
A viral video shows a brave bystander and the victim struggling with the alleged perpetrator – seen with gray hair, wearing a blue shirt and green shorts – trying to wrestle a knife from his hands.
Another man is seen throwing objects at the crazed striker in an attempt to get him to loosen his grip on the knife.
Two strong men are then seen holding the perpetrator – presumably with the knife in his hand – while a man in a white T-shirt beats him up.
“Drop that knife! Drop it! Drop it!” the man in the white T-shirt shouts at the attacker as he punches him until he eventually falls limp to the ground, the footage shows.
Officers arrived on the scene after the bloody assault and took the suspect away. according to News 4 Utah.
The man who was stabbed was rushed to the hospital to undergo emergency surgery, according to authorities.
Police are still investigating the motive for the attack and whether the two men had a previous relationship.
