Woman cuts man's neck near Magnificent Mile

A man is in critical condition after a woman slashed his neck during a fight near the Magnificent Mile and Oak Street Beach on Saturday evening, according to Chicago police.

The man, believed to be in his early to mid-40s, was involved in a physical altercation with a woman near Michigan Avenue and East Lake Shore Drive around 9:35 p.m., according to police. During the struggle, the woman pulled out a sharp object and cut the man in the throat, causing a deep laceration, according to an officer who responded to the scene. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses told police they believed the woman fled to a nearby gazebo. Officers searched the area and reviewed surveillance footage but were unable to locate her.

Police described the woman as white or Hispanic, about 6 feet tall, with brown hair pulled back in a bow. Witnesses gave conflicting descriptions of her clothing. The woman remained at large late Saturday evening.
