CHICAGO – Prosecutors charged a Chicago woman this week murdered a man last summer and, in an unrelated case, sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in 2023.

The murder occurred on August 31, 2024 in the 2900 block of East 89th Street. Prosecutors said Kendra Head, 27, was involved in a marijuana transaction with the victim, Alfredo Gonzalez, who was also celebrating his 36th birthday.

About 8:30 a.m., Head smoked a joint next to Gonzalez’s car and told a witness who stopped that Gonzalez had good marijuana, Judge Shauna Boliker said in a detention order. Moments later, Head allegedly pulled a gun and demanded property from Gonzalez. She is accused of fatally shooting him during the altercation.

Video evidence played a key role in the investigation of the case. Boliker’s detention order said “several” Chicago police officers who knew Head from the neighborhood recognized her in the footage.

In the sexual assault case, Head is accused of picking up a 14-year-old girl from home and taking her to a motel on Nov. 8, 2023. A year-old man sexually assaulted the girl, who fell asleep after taking alcohol and a pill. Head also allegedly sent the girl explicit videos.

She is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated sexual assault.
