According to a Chicago police report, the incident started when a Uber driver reported that his passenger threatened to shoot him in the 600 block of West 63rd Street late on 13 June. Officers found Gabraell Griffin in the neighborhood and stopped her because she matched the description of the Uber driver: a black woman with large hair dressed in completely black. During the arrest, the police would have found an ammunition magazine with inert training ammunition of her.
