The Paintball Drive-bys are back. At least two people reported that they were shot on Sunday evening with paintballs of passing cars, one in the old city and the other in River North. One of the victims was taken to a hospital for the treatment of eye injury.

The police said that a 38-year-old man walked to the west in the 100 block of West Schiller when a red sedan rode around 10:48 am, someone shot a paintball gun and struck him, according to a CPD spokesperson.

The fire brigade took him in good condition to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

About half an hour later, another man was the target while he walked near Orleans and Kinzie. He reported that he was being shot in the back, but his injuries were not serious.

Paintball “shootings” usually come in waves in Chicago.

In 2019, a woman suffered a serious eye injury at a paintball attack on the northwest side. Incidents that stood during the pandemic when videos from Paintball shooting went viral.

CWBCHICAGO was founded in 2013 by five residents of Wigleyville and Boystown who had been discouraged with inaccurate information that was provided during meetings of the local community policing (CAPS). Our coverage area has since been expanded to cover Lincoln Park, River North, De Loop, Uptown and other North Side areas. But our mission remains unchanged: to provide original reporting of public safety with a better context and more detail than regular media. Our editorial e -mail address is news@cwbchicago.com
