Chicago officials say that an eight-time convicted criminal has stolen packages from a company and a condo building near his West Town house and in one case comes away with items worth $ 10,000. The company promotes itself as an option to prevent package theft by acting as an intermediary between delivery companies and recipients.
A police report in Chicago said that security video and the results of a photo-line-up led them to arrest the 57-year-old Andrew Clark near his house in the 300 block of North Hoyne.
On March 18, Clark broke the glass door of an apartment building in the 500 block of North Hoyne and then had access to the mail room to steal a package, according to a CPD report.
He is also accused of hiring a company into the 2100 -block of West Hubbard twice, once on 11 February and again on March 5.
During the first burglary, he is said to have been broken into a storage unit and took several Amazon packages, according to the police report.
On March 5 he stole a couple of Amazon packages and a cart, according to a criminal complaint. The items that were stolen during this incident would reportedly be appreciated at $ 10,000.
The intended company has a website that offers to eliminate the risk of package theft from Huizen by working as an intermediary between delivery companies and recipients.
Clark is accused of three counts of burglary. Judge Luciano Panici, Jr. let him free on electronic monitoring.
According to the court reports, Clark had two burglary judgments in 2015 and one in 2019. He was sentenced to 20 years for armed robbery in 2003 and seven years for armed robbery in 1997. In 1991 he received a probation period for theft and worsened battery.
