Chicago-de Man accused of killing a woman and shooting a second woman after a casual meeting in a River North Bowling Alley in 2022 was sentenced to 30 years on Friday.
Jason McMahan and his girlfriend went to 10Pin Bowling Lounge, 330 North State, on April 30, 2022, and crossed paths with two women who are friends with his ex, said public prosecutors.
One of the women called McMahan’s ex to tell her that he had a new girlfriend and then started a fight with McMahan and his new girlfriend, officials said. McMahan, 39, and his girlfriend left and walked to the girlfriend’s car, but two of his ex’s friends followed them and the women showed the women.
The girlfriend drove back to the bowling alley with McMahan in the passenger seat. The two women, now accompanied by McMahan’s ex, knocked on her window on the passenger side.
While surveillance cameras rolled, McMahan reportedly stepped out of the car and hit one of the women in the head and hit her on the floor. According to prosecutors, he shot a gun on his ex and her friends, killing one of the friends and injured the other. His ex-girlfriend was not injured. He then returned to his girlfriend’s car and left the stage.
The girlfriend, who had already called 911 for help twice, drove a short distance, parked and called 911 a third time. McMahan and a non -created man who had left in the car before the police arrived, said officials.
McMahan’s girlfriend, who had a permit to wear a hidden weapon, had reportedly shown two weapons in her car and ballistic tests that one of them was used in the shooting.
McMahan was on trial for a theft of 2018 at the time of the shootings. His convictions from the past include increasing illegal use of a weapon in 2014 and in 2005 and 2010 with drugs related charges.
On Friday, McMahan was guilty of accusing a second -degree murder, which was reduced by murder in the first degree and conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree, which, according to the court reports, was reduced.
Judge Carol Howard condemned him for up to 20 years before the second -degree murder attempt and a successive 10 years for the conspiracy.
