Chicago – A Venezuelan migrant is confronted with armed robbery on after he reportedly robbed a Streeterville woman under shot, only three days after he was released from electronic monitoring in another case.

Judge Deidre Dyer ordered Edmonds Peraza Cortez, 25, to hold as a security risk, while waiting for the trial for accusing armed robbery.

A 41-year-old woman told the police that she was outside of her building in the 400 block of East Illinois when Cortez pulled his Divvy bike for her and showed a gun.

The woman said she heard the gun clicking when Cortez asked: “Money! Money!”

Instead of taking money, Cortez left with the iphone of the woman, the Lululemon bag and electric scooter, according to a Chicago police report. Justice officers said the robbery on video was caught.

Shortly after the robbery, the police pinged the woman’s phone to the 600 block of West Hubbard, according to the report. When they arrived there, Cortez saw them and immediately went into a nearby tent, according to the report.

The officers arrested him after the victim had identified him as the thief.

Court reports show that Cortez has generated five other criminal cases in the past year. He is currently waiting for a process for accusation of reckless behavior and has a replica -fire weapon. The prosecutors said that he had just been collected electronic monitoring on 8 April after the state had dropped a drug case against him.

The prosecutors also dropped all other cases with which he had to deal with: two thefts in the retail trade and another indictment due to drugs.
