Caught! 2 detained after robberies reported in Lakeview, Wigleyville, Bridport at night

Good news to report: two suspects are in custody after people were robbed in the neighborhood of Wigley Field, in the Southport Corridor and at night in Bridport. The suspects are supposed to be responsible for all three holdups.

The crimes started shortly after 1 hour near Clifton and Grace in Wigleyville. A woman who lives in the neighborhood said that two men, one who wore a ski mask, took her phone and other items, had her phone unlocked and then fled into a white car.

Only a few minutes later a few were robbed at a few blocks away near Southport and Roscoe. They told the police that two men took their valuables under shot and drove away in a white car. The victims hid in a aisle until the police arrived.

Then around 1:43 a 27-year-old woman was robbed in the 3000 block of South Wentworth. She reported that two men came from a white Volkswagen -Sedan and demanded her property, said a Chicago police spokesperson.

They hit the woman in her face and leg and then took her property with violence, according to CPD. She refused medical treatment.

Another robbery was reported in the West Loop around 2.25 pm. A group of friends were near Aberdeen and Washington when two or three men in a white vehicle robbed them under shot of their jewelry, according to their 911 call. But the victims did not wait until the police linger and no report was submitted.

With the help of CPD’s network of cameras and license plate readers, the police started to follow a Volkswagen with Massachusetts plates while traveling through the city, wandering from Andersonville to the south side.

Detectives will also see if the suspects are responsible for robbing two other people in Wigleyv2ille early Friday morning. In that case, a 22-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were in a car in Roscoe Street just west of Sheffield Avenue when two men approached them around 1:07 am, the men threatened the victims with weapons and asked their possessions.

But the robbery took an even more violent turn when one of the masked men hit the woman’s head and face, reportedly with a gun.

Both robbers climbed into a white vehicle, possibly a Nissan -Sedan, and drove away.
