CHICAGO – Prosecutors have charged a Gresham man with a litany of crimes, alleging he stole $14,082 worth of merchandise this year, mostly from Ulta and Target stores in Chicago.
Edmond Brown, 25, is charged with operating a continuing financial crime enterprise, theft and eight counts of shoplifting in the latest indictment. He already has two other shoplifting cases pending.
The allegations are that Brown repeatedly shoplifted at Ulta and Target locations between January and October, taking hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars in merchandise each time.
Brown is accused of:
- stealing $2,606 worth of fragrances from Ulta, 2754 North Clybourn, on January 10
- stealing $600 worth of merchandise from Target, 2650 North Clark, on April 7
- stealing $600 worth of merchandise from Target, 3300 North Ashland, on April 13
- stealing $818 worth of merchandise from Target, 4728 West Irving Park, on April 25
- stealing $2,149 worth of fragrances from Ulta, 4140 South Pulaski, on April 26
- stealing $1,565 worth of fragrances from Ulta, 1000 West North Avenue, on May 2
- stealing $1,546 worth of fragrances from Ulta, 2754 North Clybourn, on May 16
- stealing $600 worth of merchandise from Target, 2656 North Elston, on September 2
He is also charged with theft for an incident that occurred at a West Loop Target store on October 3. In that case, he stole $345 worth of merchandise from the store at 1101 West Jackson and repeatedly punched a female employee in the face with his elbow. according to the allegations.
In previously filed cases, prosecutors accused him of stealing $1,287 worth of fragrances from a Walgreens in Lyons on Oct. 13 and another load of fragrances worth $1,966 from an Ulta in River Forest on May 8.
Brown is under electronic monitoring pending trial.
