An animator from Los Angeles for a year Daren Jannace sketched 30 small drawings every day on standard yellow Post-It notes. Each square canvas illustrated colorful squiggly lines, blob-like characters and the occasional text, becoming part of a larger stop-motion storyline called ‘10,946.”
The short film follows Jannace’s daily musings atop a black cutting mat and combined with audio (including music, a buzzing fly and a screaming child) recorded on his phone. The animation depicts a choreographed patchwork of life over 365 days and also chronicles Jannace’s creative evolution, with the drawings shifting from more minimalist scenes to longer, more complex ideas over the year.
