Thursday marks 28 years since 6-year-old JonBenét Ramsey was found strangled and beaten to death in the basement of her family’s home in Boulder — and her killer has never been brought to justice.
But Boulder police have been inundated with new tips since the November release of Netflix’s viral new documentary, “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey.”
“There have been more than a hundred,” said an investigator who is part of the joint task force to solve the case. “The next step is to decide which are credible and which are not. But we look at every tip and decide if it can help us solve the case. It is a priority here.”
It’s welcome news for the Ramsey family, who have been searching for answers since JonBenét was found gruesomely murdered on December 26, 1996. Despite initially being suspects in the murder, her parents John and Patsy Ramsey urged police to investigate the matter further. hoping for answers.

“A big reason we continue to participate in media interviews is the hope of convincing that one person who knows something to come forward,” says John Andrew Ramsey – a teenager who was visiting his mother, John Ramsey’s first wife , out of town when JonBenét was murdered.
JonBenét’s murder has puzzled authorities since the six-year-old beauty queen was reported missing from her sprawling home in Boulder, Colorado.
Hours later, John Ramsey found the little girl’s broken body in the basement of the house. She had a garrote around her neck and her skull had been crushed by an apparent blow to the back of the head.
Police initially focused on JonBenét’s family: John, Patsey and JonBenét’s youngest brother Burke.
But fifteen days after the murder, a DNA report seemingly ruled them out as suspects. They were formally acquitted in 2008 by the then public prosecutor.
This week John Ramsey announced that he plans to meet with Boulder police chief in Colorado next month, along with a representative from an independent genetic genealogy research laboratory. Now 80, Ramsey is pushing local authorities to allow an outside laboratory to test evidence from the case at the crime scene.
“We asked for a meeting [Boulder Police Department] Chief [Stephen] Red fright in January. He said yes, absolutely, let’s get together,” Ramsey told Fox News Digital. “We haven’t planned the day yet, but we will find out. That is an important meeting. We will have a representative with us from one of these advanced labs to explain what they can and cannot do. Hopefully he will accept their help.”
The Boulder Police Department has undergone a leadership change over the past two years. Redfearn, who only recently took the job, has said publicly that he is keen to resolve the matter.
“This is a major public black mark on the Boulder Police Department,” the investigator told The Post. “It is in everyone’s interest that this is resolved. That’s why we’re so committed now.”
As for the Ramseys, family members are encouraging anyone with information to contact Boulder police.
“Every piece of information, no matter how small, can make a difference.” said John Andrew Ramsey. “Your decision to come forward could help find the answers we so deeply seek.”
