A furious husband killed his old wife and then turned the gun himself in a clear murder of suicide of Long Island on Thursday morning, the police said.
Police officers found William Clifford, 73, with a shot wound at the head on his front gazon and a gun that was at his feet in Islip around 6.30 am, according to officials.
Just earlier, a garbage truck driver – who was trained in resuscitation – saw him: ‘Examinated the body, noted that he was outside the help [and] Called 911 Operators, ”said Suffolk County Police Murder Team Detective Lt. Kevin Beyrer to reporters.
In the house with four bedrooms on Parson’s landing and St. Marks Lane, the police found his wife, Eileen Clifford, 68, dead in a puddle of blood.
Beyrer said that the doomed couple “a few years” was married and they described “neighbors as very nice.”
Residents in the neighborhood were shocked to see police officers in their sleepy, lined with trees.

“I am shocked and surprised because we don’t let anything happen here,” a neighbor told News 12 Long Island.
“It is a very quiet, sleepy town where nothing never happens.”
